Spoof and Humour Competition – Provisional Winners
We're highly pleased to announce the provisional winners of our 2007 Micro-Fiction Competition. They’re provisional because some of them have yet to get in touch with us after our informing them of their jolly good fortune – not because we’re fickle and might go ‘pah’ and change our minds at any given moment. If you’re one of the authors named below and this comes as a delightful surprise, do check your inbox and get in touch with us as soon as possible. Many thanks.

Congratulation to all of the above, and thanks to everybody who entered. Naked Thighs and Cotton Frocks and Other Short Stories has taken its rightful place in the production queue and will hopefully be available for purchase in time for Christmas. And will look rather like this:

Winter Short Story Competition
It was very hard to choose the final winner and runner up (both of whom will be published in September). All of the following stories were read by about eight members of our judging panel in the end. It wasn't an easy task as the standard was so impressive, but the winner and the runner up had clear majority votes. We are genuinely quite heartbroken that all the highly commended stories couldn't be published. Well done to all the people who entered: there were many more stories not on this list that our readers also enjoyed very much.
Winner - In No Man’s Land by Robert Wilton
Runner Up - The Steady Bookkeeper by Kathy Mansfield
Highly Commended (in no particular order) –
Auchterarder Road by Anne Youngson
The King of the Trolleys by Carolyn Lewis
Rise Above It by Gabi MacEwan

Ain’t Nuthin’ But the Blues by Keith Harrison

Accompanied by every fanfare conceivably available, the winner of our Writing for Children competition is Gareth Rafferty, with his story, Barry’s Barnet. Gareth wins £200 and publication.
Our runners up are: Pat Hopper, with The Gang of Three and Lora & William Gill, with The Monkey and the Diamond.
Each runner-up will also be published as a Leaf Book.

The First Leaf Short Story Competition
This was held in the summer of 2005 and was astonishingly successful considering it was our first ever competition: it drew an impressive number of entrants of a consistently high standard.
The winner was The Greengrocer's Apostrophe by Alexandra Fox. Runners up were The Gift by Ghislaine Goff, Mrs Thomson's Guide to Game Spotting by Fiona Thomson and Doppelganger by Simon Todd.
Every story was read by at least two members of our reading panel; the short listed stories were read by up to ten panel members. All of these stories (and a few more besisdes) have been published as Leaf Books and are available to buy from this site and from Amazon.
