Paul Currion
Paul Currion hopes to become the greatest writer that Croydon has ever produced. He hopes that this will be as easy as it sounds. He has worked in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Liberia and the Indian Ocean Tsunami, generally cleaning up the mess that other people (who shall remain nameless) have left behind. He has made some short films, published some short stories and written some short plays; disappointingly, none of these have led to the international celebrity status he so obviously craves. A bookish boy’s learning to experience his city as a blind man would experience it; a fabled and helplessly destructive dragon that lives at the local takeaway and a biker’s encounter with a Harley-fancying mermaid. The Light That Remains and Other Stories contains the winning entries from the Leaf Books Open Short Story Competition that ran during the winter of 2006. The fourteen superlative stories residing within represent the pick of crop.
