Maria Donovan was brought up in Dorset and lived in Holland for many years. She has worked as a nurse, gardener and magician’s assistant. In 1997 she enrolled as an undergraduate at the University of Glamorgan in order to make writing the focus of her working life. Now a Lecturer in Creative Writing at Glamorgan, she has recently completed an MPhil in Writing. Longer short stories have appeared in Mslexia, New Welsh Review and the Honno anthology My Cheating Heart. Her first collection of longer stories, Pumping Up Napoleon, will be published by Seren in 2007.
